I became suddenly aware the other day that I had not posted in quite a while, even the automatic scheduled meme posting had failed. I even had to hide some of the posts, or better put, I hid them for professional reasons (somehow “F*ck it Fridays” doesn’t EXACTLY sound as professional as it does funny). I have been wrapped up in a lot of work lately, which has taken a toll on my mental energies. On the flip side to that I have been listening to a lot of “self help” (don’t judge) books on my commute to work and starting to reconsider goals in life. Which has lead to another excuse for my lack of posting, I have been spending a bunch of time on retro gaming and tech. I have some plans to something (to be determined) with this old stuff, well aside from keeping it from the trash, and just making random posts about it.
In other updates…
- I felt the need to rename the Friday category to something a little cleaner, but the posts about being glad it is Friday definitely will not stop.
- Mondays have gotten a second category, I have found that I need a kick to get started on Mondays, and with that I introduce ‘Music Mondays’, probably mostly heavy metal and hard rock, but a few other things may creep in the play list, stay tuned.
- The first two projects that I have been thinking about for a while is a collection of writings I have been working on for a long while. It started off as a book, but well it might still up as that… In the mean time it will end up being the beginning of an idea for a fictional universe that with luck will be open for anyone to contribute to.
- The second big project I have kicking around and wanting to try has been a sort match up of Mumble, some kind of forum software, and whatever else I may throw into that mix to make up a community sort of thing. The details are a bit fuzzy at the moment and at the moment it is more of a technical challenge, but we will see what comes of it.
This should all prove pretty interesting, in the past I would have waited for huge updates before posting things, but I am going to push for even little updates so stay tuned.
Just a few updates today – it has been a little while since I have posted any updates, mostly due to a lot of work and home issues, but now I think I am starting to get past that. Seems like everyone uses that as an excuse when they go a long while without updating a site or posting new videos, but it can definitely get in the way.
Big changes for this update start off beginning with this post when I post new content there will be mentions on the social medias. I had turned the feature off while I built up a little bit of content (mainly through scheduling the memes on Monday and Friday). There might be a few posts that randomly pop up in the past, but I have a handful of drafted posts that were started and not finished – going to wrap those up.
Just a quick update today, there is a new page added to the left named Links. It is probably clear this is a list of shortcuts to various pages and other things connected to the site. The first link is a scratchpad site using codeanywhere, the tool that I mentioned back in August.
This is the only link for now, but there is more to come as other things get wrapped up, so stay tuned!
Another short update, I have been working on adding some other things to share, but it is taking longer than I planned for (well, more like the motivation and free time are missing at the moment). So a short update right now.
I have finally added in an about page to the left hand side, it is relatively simple and will most definitely change as time goes on, but we have to start somewhere.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls … How the hell are you all !?
It’s been a while, but there’s been some good stuff going on. Since the last update I have gotten some new logos for the site and finally got the site switched from Digitalstuffy over to Fallingstuff. Now, I haven’t abandoned the old URL’s, they just point over to the new site now. I haven’t done much with my site since I’ve had it, but there’s some nostalgia with that old name that I can’t give up. (The same applies for gotchtech.com that I was using for a very brief time – I’m holding onto that for some future plans.)
Next up Facebook and Youtube, as in I have set up a Facebook page for the site and a Youtube channel. I’ve got inspired by some Youtube videos on some retro gaming … and happened to run across some really convenient finds at some local thrift stores for encouragement. I’ll be posting some stuff soon, I’ve been hung up on getting all the details for capturing the videos “perfect”, which has not gone as well as planned. Oh and some 3D printing might be involved in taking some time too.
Lastly (for this update), I’ve started to set up some posts in a series I’m calling “Weekday Waltz”, a different topic for each day of the week. The first is filled under “Meme’ing Mondays”, the name is pretty self explanatory – Memes … on Mondays – the inspiration came from random posts I was putting on Facebook of the “No time to Explain” variety, It got funny, so, time to keep it going !
That’s all I got for now, till next time.
Welcome 2017 … 2 months ago. Ok, I’m a little behind. 2015 and 2016 marked some pretty frustrating years in my personal life, but 2017 is going to be an awesome year. I’ve got some really cool ideas in mind, and the first was to re-brand the site. “Stuffy” is a nickname I got in college, I still hear that from some friends, but that’s not quite as professional I’d like. True, “FallingStuff” isn’t exactly professional either, but it’s the screen name I use for gaming and so a little more fitting (I didn’t get rid of the previous site addresses, they redirect to this new main site). I have a much more professional section to the site I’m going to be developing, that is still on the drawing board, as is the new fledgling YouTube channel. There are a few other plans on the table, including … coming soon (have to keep something for people to return for). First steps though, new graphics and finish converting the site content over.
Tabula rasa is a Latin phrase often translated as “blank slate” in English and originates from the Roman tabula used for notes, which was blanked by heating the wax and then smoothing it. This roughly equates to the English term “blank slate” (or, more literally, “erased slate”) which refers to the emptiness of a slate sheet previous to it being written on with chalk. Both may be refreshed repeatedly, by melting the wax or by erasing the chalk. (Wikipedia)
I started this site in 2007 as a place to show off some projects that I had built, you know, that stuff built in college and to be used to show off for job hunting. Over the years I tried a few times to just clean up and “refit” what was already there, but my previous efforts have stalled for many reasons (most of them I suspect were personal I’m planning to talk about those in a later post). So now, in the spirit of ‘Tabula Rasa’, I have wiped out my old site and now starting off fresh with new content, new ideas, and a perspective (and since I managed to break the old one so badly I couldn’t get into it … oops). My little piece of the electronic world will continue to be a place to show off random projects (coming soon – Minecraft Server and some vaguely awesome fiction), but now also to share opinions and other possibly thought provoking materials. Or I am just going to annoy and piss off people, and since this is my site, I can do that.
So without further ado, I declare this new oddly shaped piece of digital frontier open for business. Enjoy your stay, or don’t, it’s up to you.
